About Me

Born in Syracuse, NY, Katie grew up dreaming of making people laugh for a living. She’s the third of four children in her family and although she was shy to perform in front of her loved ones, storytelling came naturally. She’d always come home with elaborate stories of her seemingly mundane days filled with enthusiastic impersonations and full physical reenactments.

Katie joined Army ROTC her sophomore year in college while attending Florida State University, which in her words is the best decision she ever made. A natural athlete, Katie excelled in her military training and within her first month in the program was offered a full ROTC scholarship. Upon graduating FSU, she was commissioned an officer in the US Army - one of the proudest moments of her life - and soon became trained as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear warfare officer. She attended Airborne school immediately after where she ended up having spider fractures in both her feet. Not wanting to quit or have to go through training again, she pleaded with the doctor to simply tape her feet in place so she could finish “jump week” and graduate. Five days later, she was pinned with her parachutist badge.

After Airborne, Katie signed in with her assigned unit at Fort Drum, NY, Task Force 6th Squadron-6th Cavalry, under the 10th Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, where she spent the rest of her military career. With “TF Six-Shooters”, Katie served in two combat tours to Iraq and Afghanistan as the head aviation battle captain, where she was responsible for all daily tactical operations within her unit. After four years of active duty service, Katie left the Army honorably in June 2012.

During her years in the service, Katie maintained her lighthearted humor, often creating sketches to perform for her Soldiers during training to ease the pain of torturously boring, yet mandatory, safety briefings. She was soon designated the Safety Officer where she took it upon herself to make a tedious safety briefing into its own individual comedic show.

Today, Katie embraces her storytelling style onstage mixed with retellings of her humorous life experiences and observations.

Something Katie recently wrote in a post:

“Sometimes it randomly hits me...I remember being a little kid looking in the mirror and pretending to perform onstage and making crowds of people laugh. I dreamt of living in LA one day and thought "it'd be cool" to act in a movie or on TV, but thought that was merely a pipe dream - I had to figure out what I really wanted to do with my life.

Now here I am living in Hollywood, CA actually getting booked at comedy shows and was told the other night, "You were my favorite comedian of the night" by numerous total strangers. I'm featured in two documentaries this year and an indie feature film. I'm in two theatre shows this Fall, and things are only looking up and up!

So when you're sitting on the couch dreaming of what you *wish* you could do in life, just get up and go for it. What do you have to lose? The worst that could happen is you're right back where you were on that comfy couch, except this time you're smiling because you went for it.”

Currently, Katie is performing stand-up all over LA and is coordinating dates to tour the east coast for 2015. Check out her schedule and come see her perform or Book her at your next event!
